Science Fair

Congratulations to all of the participants in the Welby Science Fair and especially the three students who advanced to the District Science Fair!

At the District Fair, Welby students came out on top again! One of our projects earned 3rd place place out of all of the 3-5 grade projects in the District and another earned 1st!

We are so proud of all of the time, effort, and research our students put in to making their projects the best they could be!

Upcoming Assessments

Assessment season is upon us! Over the next few months Welby students will be taking a number of assessments that help their teachers understand where they are at this point in the year and what next steps to take before the end of the year.

The best way to prepare your student is by making sure they have a good night’s sleep, have something for breakfast at home or at school, and have them practice some fundamental skills like spelling, adding, and subtracting.

For more information about assessments under the “Assessments” section of our “Academics” page. This provides a quick description of each assessment and links to learn more.

April Update & Spring Events

April Updates & Spring Events

I cannot believe it is April already! The school year has really flown by! Even though we only have 2 months left with students, we have a ton of things to celebrate and events coming up!

This Friday PTO and Student Council are hosting a Spring Fling Dance! DJ Fluffy will be performing and there will be food and fun for the whole family. The dance will go from 5:00-6:30 in the Welby Gym and admission is $10 per family. We hope to see you there!

CMAS begins next week and runs through April 21st for our 3rd-6th grade students. They have been doing an incredible job throughout the year learning all the skills and strategies they need to be successful, so I know they are going to do an amazing job!

On April 16th, Ms. Nevil will be taking a lot of student artwork to the Skyview Campus to compete in the district-wide Mapleton Art Show! Last year Welby students earned a ton of awards and we even took home 1st place overall! We are so excited to show off all of the hard work our students have done this year too!

If you have not already done so, please remember to complete your student’s Annual Update! This is really important to us because it helps us prepare for next school year!

Stay tuned for more updates about all of the events coming in May!

Attendance Matters Logo

Every day matters in Mapleton! Good attendance plays a crucial role in a student’s educational journey, serving as a key predictor of academic achievement and social development. In Mapleton, it's our goal to have students attend school at least 95% of the time – missing no more than nine days a year for any reason. Click here to learn more about attendance, our district values, and our new Board of Education policies for this year.
