The Harwin's Run for Welby Fundraiser is underway! Use this link to access the Donation Portal! Every donation gets us closer to meeting our goal of $6,500! Make sure to select your student's teacher when you donate because a professional soccer player from the Colorado Rapids will be visiting and reading with the classes that earn the most!

K-2nd Grade – Starts at 8:30 a.m.
3rd-6th Grade – 9:45 a.m.
PreK – 10:30 a.m.

The Fun Run is on Thursday, September 17, but donations will be accepted until September 28th! Please check your emails for more information about the event.

Going Green: Welby Earns Top State Honors!

We are thrilled to announce that our school is a Performance School! This is the highest distinction awarded to schools on the Colorado Department of Education's annual School Performance Framework!

We couldn’t be more proud of our students, staff, and families! This incredible achievement is a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and heart our entire school community brings each and every day.

Student Voices from Welby Community School of the Arts

High expectations and a strong sense of community define learning at Welby Community School of the Arts. 

Welby is a PK–6 school where strong academics, creativity, and character go hand in hand. As part of the EL Education network, students are “crew, not passengers,” taking ownership of their learning through hands-on projects, collaboration, and real-world connections. The arts are woven into daily instruction, helping students build confidence, express ideas, and deepen understanding in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Mr. Wilk Brings Learning to Life Through Blitzball

Welby PE teacher Mr. Wilk is using Blitzball to help students build teamwork, perseverance, critical-thinking, and communication skills. After each game, students reflect on their strategies, connect their experiences to Welby’s Hawk Habits, and think about how they can grow.

Welby Community School of the Arts 2nd graders recently welcomed families for a Celebration of Learning focused on science and discovery.

Students shared their work from a pollinators unit, where they studied insects such as bees, butterflies, ladybugs, moths, wasps, and flies. Each student created a scientific drawing and presented what they learned about pollination, body parts, and life cycles.

Families joined in meaningful conversations using guiding questions, making the event a true partnership in learning.

A special thank you to Ms. Bethany Johnson and Ms. Hundemer for fostering a classroom where student growth and family engagement are celebrated.

Centers of Excellence Award - Welby Community School

Welby has been named a Colorado Centers of Excellence school by the Colorado Department of Education. This incredible honor was awarded to just 18 schools across the state this year. The Centers of Excellence award celebrates schools serving a high percentage of at-risk students that are also achieving outstanding academic growth over time.

This achievement reflects the dedication, creativity, and commitment of Welby’s staff, students, and families. Their work to support every learner and ensure strong academic progress truly stands out.

We’re so proud of our Welby Hawks and the example they set for what’s possible when a school community comes together around student success.

Breakfast is available for students every day from 7:35 - 7:50. Make sure you are here on time if you plan to eat breakfast with us!

Volunteer at Welby Community School of the Arts!

Come into the Main Office to pick up and fill out a volunteer form. We just need the form and a copy of your ID, front and back, to submit to the District Office for approval.
The process takes about a week to get approved. Thank you!
