Welby Word
September:
As a parent, you are your child's first and most important teacher. Studies show that when families show interest in their children's schools, the children do better and have better feelings about going to school. When we ask our children “How was your day”, we all know that we will get the regular response of “fine.” Or It was good.” Welby is working on teaching our students to be more reflective. You can support us by asking questions that encourage your children to share experiences from their day….
- What made you laugh today? Asking about something happy can make your child more likely to share.
- What was the best part of your day? Starting with something positive can help your child talk about negative things that happened, too.
- What was the most interesting thing you learned today? You can learn about what your child is learning at school.
- What did you play at recess? Or, Who did you sit with at lunch today? Can help you learn if your child is making friends.
- What did you need help with today? Can tell you if your child needed help and who helped them.
- What was your favorite thing about your day?
Thank you for sharing your kids with us!!
October:
Happy October!! I can't believe we have been in school for almost two months already!!
Friday October 11th is an early release for all Mapleton students for the Skyview Homecoming Parade! The parade has been a long-standing tradition in Mapleton for many years. It is an opportunity for us to bring our community together and celebrate our school spirit.
Our very own Welby Nest families and staff are building our school float and things for the kids to wave to the crowd! This year the theme is a Night to Shine! Please join us on Tuesday October 1st @ 3:15 in the cafeteria to plan our parade float for this year!! We had blast last year walking and throwing candy to the parade goers and are encouraging as many families as possible to participate.
The parade will start in the Skyview Campus parking lot promptly at 3:45 (students please arrive by 3:30). All students are encouraged to participate in the parade, but their parents need to take them to our parade starting location and pick them up immediately following the parade! We will be sending home more information on the parade route and permission slips for students who will be able to join us in the parade soon. We would love as many students as possible to join us but we will NOT transport any students to the parade route and all students will be released at 12:50 on Friday.
Donations Needed!!
We will be accepting candy donations for the Homecoming Parade up until the day of the parade! Please drop off donations in the main office or send them to school with students!
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING WELBY and our Skyview Wolverines!
