Spelling Bee

Every year during the spring semester, Welby hosts a Spelling Bee for 4th-6th grade students in which they can qualify for the District Level Spelling Bee! 

Students meet a few times before the Welby Spelling Bee during the school day to get study materials, go over the rules, and practice being on stage. When it is time for the actual event, students will be given a word to spell, its definition, and origin. If they spell it correctly, they advance to the next round. If they spell it incorrectly, they are eliminated. This will continue until we have the Welby Winner! The top 8 students from Welby will have the opportunity to advance to the the District Spelling Bee that is broken into a written spelling test, and a classic spelling bee competition. 

Top students from the District Spelling Bee will advance to the State Spelling Bee!
